Jorge Lorenzo is hoping to change '0' to '1' on his statistics sheet this weekend by winning the Spanish Grand Prix for the first time. The Yamaha rider led the way for his team to finish second overall to Casey Stoner in Saturday practice with a best effort of 1:33.195 on his way to setting the greatest number of laps.
With 32 circulations of the Ricardo Tormo circuit to his name, no man lapped the track more than Lorenzo in the first of two hour-long practice periods this weekend.
"This is one of the few places I haven't won at in my career so I really want to try!" Majorcan Jorge said later in the afternoon. "Today was very good; I did many laps with a strong rhythm and with a consistent and fast pace.
"We are feeling strong and we hope we can continue to be competitive. Tonight we will look at the data from today and consider how we can make more improvements for tomorrow, so that I can try to be on the front row once again."
