The weather could have a greater effect than one would imagine, according to Dani Pedrosa, as the field prepares itself for the final race of the season in Valencia this weekend. Still searching for a late-season victory, the Honda rider finished in the top three on Friday.

With his home Catalonia Grand Prix having passed by in June, with Dani finishing sixth at the Circuit de Catalunya, his next-closest event to Barcelona also attracts large numbers of fans.

"It was really windy out there and that affected the machine more in some corners than others," Pedrosa, who can still beat Casey Stoner to third overall in the championship, explained after first practice. "In the third sector it was quite difficult to control the bike.

"Still, we have time to solve this tomorrow. Also, it's good that we got used to the windy conditions because it looks like we'll have them for the whole weekend. The track surface was not totally clean but the grip was actually good and the Bridgestone tyres were working well."

Pedrosa added that, with a gap to the two men ahead of him on Friday's final timesheets, improvements must be made before fine-tuning his bike setup on Saturday morning.
