Casey Stoner was once again right in touch as the first indication of who was on the pace in Malaysia arrived courtesy of practice on Friday. Having brilliantly won his home Grand Prix last weekend, the Australian continues to recover and lies within a tenth of Jorge Lorenzo's fastest time.
With Lorenzo riding with a damaged knuckle following his first-corner crash at Phillip Island last time out, Stoner continues to recover from the illness which saw him miss three races earlier in the year.

"The lap times are surprisingly good considering the track conditions, which are definitely suffering from the heat and feel much less grippy than usual here," explained the Ducati man, who had been slightly worried about the effects of the humidity on his own health.
"I'm happy with our pace and with my physical condition," he confirmed. "Even though it was hard work out there and I was tired by the end of the session, I don't think I was any worse off than anybody else and it's a different world compared to the way I felt at hot races earlier in the year."
