Dani Pedrosa is confident that the Repsol Honda bike will find greater pace as the weekend progresses in Kuala Lumpur. The Spaniard's third-quickest time may have been over half a second off compatriot Jorge Lorenzo's leading pace on Friday but Dani has no worries at this stage.

With a Yamaha, a Ducati and a Honda in the top three, an exciting weekend looks to be in prospect at Sepang. "I'm happy with how this first practice session has gone and we've established a good base for the weekend," Pedrosa said in Malaysia.

"As expected, it was really hot out there and the first session for this Grand Prix is always the toughest because it takes a little time to acclimatise. By Sunday, the heat will no problem." Then going on to explain that the track surface remains dusty but will soon clear up, Pedrosa concluded by talking of his position on the timesheets.

"I'm not worried about being half a second back from the fastest time at this stage," he said. "It's not so important and we have some areas to work on to improve things; to achieve good stability under braking is the key area for us and we'll be working to make some improvements to the setup for tomorrow."
