Pedrosa hoping to secure Sepang victory

21 October 2009

Dani Pedrosa would love to add a top class MotoGP win to his collection in Malaysia, having already taken the chequered flag in the country when riding in the 125cc and 250cc categories. The Spaniard arrives at Sepang this weekend with only one task in mind: to snatch back third overall in the championship standings.

Having finally moved into third after Casey Stoner's absence for injury, Pedrosa - who has been in the wars himself this season - has now dropped back behind the Australian, who won at home last Sunday.

"The track has a fast and challenging layout - plus the hot, humid conditions we encounter here always mean this is a physically demanding race for the riders, although we're well prepared for it," explained Pedrosa, who admits that the task in Asia will not be an easy one. "It will certainly be a big contrast to the cold weather conditions we rode in at Phillip Island last weekend."

With 189 points to the Ducati rider's 195, a gap of 6 could easily disintegrate if Barcelona's Pedrosa plays his cards right in the final two events at Sepang and Valencia. "At the moment we are looking to improve the stability of our machine and it's important that, from the first moments of practice, we use all the preparation time available to us to arrive at the best possible package for this race," he concluded.
