MotoGP returnee Casey Stoner confirmed the progress of his recovery by setting the fastest time at Estoril for Sunday morning warm-up ahead of the Portuguese Grand Prix. The Ducati rider led the way from Dani Pedrosa with the pair of Yamahas next up.
With Ducati topping the timesheets once again from Honda and Yamaha, this afternoon's pole man Jorge Lorenzo was fourth quickest behind team-mate and current championship leader Valentino Rossi. Stoner set the example with a lap time of 1:37.334 in unusually cool and foggy conditions in Portugal.
Mika Kallio's satellite Ducati was fifth ahead of works rider Nicky Hayden with de Puniet, Vermeulen, Elias and Capirossi rounding out the top ten. Britain's James Toseland finished 12th for Tech3 Yamaha.
The Portuguese Grand Prix will begin at 1pm local time (BST / GMT +1).
