Jorge Lorenzo was back to the top of the timesheets by setting the fastest lap time in Monday's post-race test in the Czech Republic. The Fiat Yamaha rider led the way from team-mate and race winner Valentino Rossi with Dani Pedrosa's Repsol Honda once again in third spot.
With the top three order being somewhat predictable after a race weekend in which Lorenzo was fastest in all sessions bar qualifying, the Spaniard was at the top of the classification again with a best effort of 1.52.171 although Pramac's Niccolò Canepa completed the most laps with 69 to the Italian's name in 11th position.
Despite having won Sunday's race, championship leader Rossi finished almost half a second down on his team-mate and just over a tenth quicker than Pedrosa. Two more Italians, in Loris Capirossi and Andrea Dovizioso, completed the top five.
Rain fell in the afternoon to prevent the maximum data from being taken from the test although some riders then elected to return to the track before the conclusion of the session at 6pm local time (BST +1 / GMT +2); in fact, although Lorenzo's time remained unbeaten, it was in this phase that Rossi set his P2 lap.
The second half of the top ten was covered by Sunday podium man Toni Elías for the Honda Gresini team, Chris Vermeulen's Suzuki and Kawasaki's Marco Melandri in ninth which was sandwiched by the two Ducati bikes of Nicky Hayden and Mika Kallio.
The before mentioned Canepa wound up in 11th place ahead of Gabor Talmacsi's Team Scot Racing and the second Pramac of MotoGP debutant Mattia Pasini who was the 13th and final runner of the session.
