Jorge Lorenzo was the quickest man as MotoGP blasted back into action with free practice at Brno. The Spaniard's Yamaha led the way in the Czech Republic from team-mate Valentino Rossi and the Honda of Dani Pedrosa as the first race weekend for three weeks gets underway.
Lorenzo topped the timesheets in the first of two hour-long practice sessions this weekend with a best lap time of 1.56.595. His Yamaha M1 beat championship leader Rossi's by four tenths of a second as the duo continue to fight for the title in the absence of Casey Stoner.
Pedrosa's time was the best part of a full second slower than Lorenzo's as Colin Edwards' Tech3 satellite Yamaha ended the day in a strong fourth place, within two tenths of the Spaniard. The second factory Repsol Honda of Donington Park winner Andrea Dovizioso rounded out the top five.
Next up were a notable Toni Elías for Honda Gresini and Mika Kallio, who impressed immediately by being the quickest Ducati as the Finn replaces the ill Stoner. The second Gresini of Alex de Angelis in eighth ensures a good day for the team as Capirossi and Melandri complete the top ten.
