Re-energized de Angelis prepared for Brno

13 August 2009

Alex de Angelis is keen to get back out onto a race track this weekend after the three-week break between races at Donington Park and Brno. With more time available than usual for recreational activities, the San Marinese rider has enjoyed the holiday period but is looking forward to returning to the MotoGP paddock.

The British Grand Prix, the last at the Derbyshire venue, yielded a superlative result for de Angelis, who crossed the finish line in fourth position. "After my fourth place at Donington it was wonderful to go home and celebrate with my family and friends," said Alex. "Then I drove a Renault Clio S1600 as the pace car in the San Marino Rose'n Bowl Rally, which was fantastic as rallying is my big passion; that was my only time off during the break - I have spent the rest of the time in training for Brno."

The Czech setting is a favourite amongst riders and de Angelis is no exception. "I really like the circuit and, in terms of its technical characteristics, it is very similar to the Sachsenring, with a nice flow to it but with some hard braking and acceleration zones," the Honda Gresini man described. "It may be hard to repeat my result from Donington but, in any case, I'll try my best to bring home another good result that keeps the season moving in a positive direction."
