Casey Stoner's decision to pull out of at least the next three races has been backed up by the fact that the Australian's two-month, ongoing illness is leaving the 23-year-old with average strength levels similar to those of a 50-year-old man.
With the 2007 World Champion not having half the amount of physical strength he should, Casey will be taking time off in order to make a recovery from slight gastritis and mild anaemia, the latter of which indicates less haemoglobin-carrying red blood cells circulating in Stoner's bloodstream, resulting in a lack of oxygen to the brain.

"I've been around Casey for a week," Dr. Claudio Macchiagodena told Italy's Gazetta dello Sport. "He's only 23 but he has already accumulated the fatigue of a 50-year-old person; his worries aren't sensitive but it has already brought up symptoms with his stomach, his anaemia and various pains that must be investigated thoroughly and not with the occasional medical tests done so far."
Amazingly, since picking up the problems around the time of the Catalonia Grand Prix in June, Stoner has achieved five races which includes two podium finishes and two fourth places. "With a one-month rest he'll be back in shape and within two months he will make sure his body is fine," the doctor continued. "He won the 2007 title, so if he looks after himself he'll be great again."
