It may not be a championship-winning margin but Valentino Rossi is happy to be leading in the standings by twenty-five points with seven races remaining in this year's championship. With his team-mate the closest competitor and Casey Stoner now absent for three races, all is looking well for the Italian.
As fourth placed Dani Pedrosa is 72 points in arrears of Rossi and Stoner likely to lose significant ground during his absence over the course of the next three Grands Prix, the 2009 title is very likely to be won by a Yamaha rider. "The summer 'holiday' wasn't as long as usual but, anyway, I've had the chance to recharge my batteries in the break and I'm feeling rested and relaxed," said Rossi ahead of this weekend's encounter at Brno.
A fall while leading at Donington saw Rossi climb back to fifth place: "Last time out wasn't ideal but in the end it was a positive day for us and we now have a one-race buffer at the top of the championship," he continued. "Despite this breathing space, we can't afford to relax for a minute because our rivals are very strong and I expect everyone to be at their best in Brno; it's a great track for me and I took my first ever win there - I'm hoping for another good result this time."
