Canepa refreshed after summer break

11 August 2009

With Ducati the centre of attention at the moment, as Casey Stoner misses the next three races and Mika Kallio steps into the role, the irony is that the highest-ranked Ducati rider at Donington Park was Niccolò Canepa. After a three-week break, the Italian claims he will be as ready as ever at Brno this weekend.

With both Ducati works bikes lapped and Alice team-mate Kallio tenth in Great Britain, Canepa continued the feel-good factor for his country by ensuring that half of the top eight finishers were Italian.

"The summer break was really useful to reenergize and forget all of the small physical problems I had," said the 21-year-old. "I am back in full shape and motivated to continue my learning procedure to be able to obtain some more good results, like at Donington when I finished in eight position.

"With the bike, the feeling is improving race after race and I believe that I can do well at Brno; it is a track on which I have already ridden in the past, on various occasions, and I like it a lot."
