Sixth not enough for Elías
22 July 2009Toni Elías' sixth place finish at the German Grand Prix ensured that, along with Jorge Lorenzo and Dani Pedrosa, the Honda Gresini man helped to place the field's three Spanish riders in the top six places of the race. With team-mate Alex de Angelis fifth, a great result was achieved for the satellite team although Elías is hungry for more.

With a mistake in qualifying proving costly for the 26-year-old, Elías and de San Marino's Angelis are now on the move and joint 11th in the championship with 47 points apiece. "The performance and result were good at the Sachsenring but we want more," said a determined Toni. "If it wasn't for my crash in qualifying, we would have started from a position that would have allowed us to opt to a better finish in the race, so that is the objective from Donington onwards."
Which specific areas specifically can the team focus on improving this weekend? "We need to look at how we can qualify better and, that way, target even better results than sixth place," Elías explained. "The track surface at Donington can be very slippery, especially if the temperatures are low, so it will be crucial for us to find good grip from day one and progress from there - hopefully the weather is kind to us!"
