Dovizioso hoping for improvement

14 July 2009

Andrea Dovizioso is hoping to improve his results at the upcoming German Grand Prix after two below par races in the Netherlands and United States. With rumours surrounding Jorge Lorenzo's possible move to the Repsol Honda team next season, Dovizioso knows that a good impression is vital.

Despite his team-mate's injuries this year, Dani Pedrosa currently lies 20 points ahead of Dovizioso in the championship, in fourth and sixth positions respectively. "I'm very motivated to show my potential and the potential of the machine in Germany because, at the last two races, we have improved a lot without getting the results to match," Andrea admitted.

"The race results in Assen and Laguna were disappointing but the recent signs have been encouraging, especially in Laguna where we were very close to the leaders and I had a good race pace and a package that meant I was capable of fighting for the front positions."

The finished article was a frustrating one, however, as the 23-year-old lost control of his bike and retired for the second consecutive race. "Unfortunately, I made a mistake but it's just something you learn from and move on from," he continued. "I wouldn't say the Sachsenring race track is one of my favourites of the year but I'm looking forward to the challenge; it's is quite short with a very slow first section followed by a very fast second half. The team is getting stronger all the time and I'm confident we can have a good weekend."
