The Repsol Honda team was overjoyed to have returned to the top step of the podium at Laguna Seca on Sunday. After a season of falls and injuries for Dani Pedrosa, the Spaniard flew from fourth on the grid to the lead and was never headed despite a late-race challenge from Valentino Rossi.
After his heavy accident in Germany last season and this year's Qatar testing accident being compounded by several more recent offs, Dani Pedrosa has perhaps spent more time in hospital than on the bike in 2009 although all came good at the weekend. "This is a fantastic win for us and it's a great feeling after such a long time without a victory," said Dani, whose last win came in Barcelona last year.

"The start of the season has been really difficult and actually it's been tough since the Sachsenring last year because I've had a lot of injuries and I haven't been able to ride at 100 per cent for a long time, or train properly."
With his recovery speeding up, another fall at Assen a fortnight ago led to more misery although his American Grand Prix result sees the 'D. Pedrosa' name move up to fourth in the standings. "My team never gave up and I'd like to thank everyone who's been working really hard to help me get back to this position," he continued. "I'd also like to thank the doctors who have treated me because there have been quite a few of them!"
