Canepa wishes Kallio speedy recovery

03 July 2009

Niccolò Canepa has sent his team-mate regards as he prepares to be the sole representative of the Pramac team this weekend. With Mika Kallio forced to miss the American Grand Prix due to injury, practice at Laguna Seca on Friday will commence with only the Italian on the bike.

With Kallio injured and the Scot Racing team having announced the departure of Yuki Takahashi on Thursday, the 20-bike field becomes an 18-bike field at Laguna Seca. "I am really sorry Mika will not be here with us this weekend and it will be strange," said Canepa. "I hope he will be able to get back on track really soon - he is a really nice guy and a great rider and I hope to see him in our garage again for the German race."

The added task of having to record all track data for the team this weekend only adds to the already difficult job of learning the circuit. "It will not be easy for us this weekend as it's my first time here in my career," Niccolò continued. "From what I have seen on the television in the past years, it isn't a really fast track but with many insidious turns.

"I think that my heart rate will be really fast for my first time at the corkscrew! On paper, this is a really fascinating track and I hope to be able to be fast from the first few laps. On the Indianapolis track, which I rode on for the first time last year, I registered very interesting lap times straight away; who knows - that maybe the same will happen here."
