Ducati links up with Generali

27 May 2009

The Ducati team has signed a new three-year sponsorship team with Italy's largest insurance company, Assicurazioni Generali (general insurance). The deal, set to last for three years, will start with immediate effect with the firm's famous lion logos on the bikes of Casey Stoner and Nicky Hayden at Mugello this weekend.

Founded in 1831, the Gererali name has been established in Italy for over 177 years and can now be found as far ashore as China and Japan. The company logo will be seen for the first time in MotoGP this weekend on the bikes and overalls of the Bologna-based squad.

"The MotoGP World Championship is an ideal sponsorship context which perfectly matches with the international scope of the Generali Group," said CEO Giovanni Parissinotto. "This agreement brings together two major Italian companies which, over the years, have been demonstrating a strong capacity for innovation that has made them successful international players."

"We are proud of this important partnership," said Ducati's CEO Gabriele del Torchio, of the company which will also be title sponsor for the season-ending Valencian Grand Prix. "We hope this will be the beginning of a long and fruitful cooperation, confirming once again the credibility and highly professional skills of our technicians and employees."
