De Puniet heads home

14 May 2009

Randy de Puniet is particularly determined to score a strong result in front of his home French crowd at Le Mans this weekend. The LCR Honda rider, currently seventh in the championship after a strong start to the year, is approaching the weekend realistically.

"Last weekend was simply perfect for me and the squad but we are keeping our feet on the ground," said the 28-year-old, who finished fourth in the south of Spain. "The championship is still long and it won't be easy but it seems we are working in the right direction. Racing here in Le Mans is always something special and the fans are very warm with me, but I have to keep my focus and be as consistent as possible."

"I am very happy about Randy's result in Jerez," team manager Lucio Cecchinello added. "It was the real demonstration of Randy's potential and the team made did a great job to set up the 2009-spec RC212V. The rest of the season won't be easy, as the factory bikes are very competitive, but our target remains a top eight finish."
