Dani Pedrosa was more than satisfied to be lining up second on the grid for his home Grand Prix this weekend. The Repsol Honda rider, who missed much pre-season running after a testing accident, was delighted to be right behind compatriot Jorge Lorenzo.

"Yesterday wasn't good but today we've improved a lot so I'm happy," Dani said to the BBC, after qualifying just half a tenth slower than his compatriot. "I'm very happy to be on the front row for my home race.

"Today I think we did a much better job, but there are still some things on the bike which I need to improve - I just hope for a good race tomorrow." Behind Pedrosa is the fierce pairing of Casey Stoner and reigning Champion Rossi, meaning an exciting race is in prospect on Sunday.
