Rossi to tour Isle of Man course

29 April 2009

Valentino Rossi is to attend the Isle of Man in June for his first chance to ride the legendary road course, home to motorcycle racing since 1907. The reigning MotoGP World Champion will be covering the lap with compatriot Giacomo Agostini alongside, the only man ahead of him in the record books for Grand Prix wins.

The all-Italian pairing will be riding the famous route on 2009 Yamaha R1s, the road version of the machine on which Rossi hopes to defend his title this year. "I am fascinated by all sorts of motorsport and the Isle of Man is a destination and a race I have wanted to experience for a long time," said Rossi, 97 times a Grand Prix winner.

"The MotoGP schedule is very busy around this time of year, but this year the TT has moved dates a little and there is a week's gap between Mugello and Catalunya, so now at last we have the opportunity to see this famous event! I have seen many famous images from the TT races, and of course heard much about it from Giacomo and Mr (Lino) Dainese (CEO of Dainese, manufacturer of protective sports wear and official safety partner to the event for the second consecutive year) who enjoyed the experience so much last year."
