The Fiat Yamaha squad finished the Qatar night testing in promising style by securing second and third places for Jorge Lorenzo and Valentino Rossi respectively. The Spaniard finished up just over a second slower than fastest man Casey Stoner, with Rossi's best effort a further two tenths down.
Lorenzo, continually adapting to the new Bridgestone tyres, completed the longest run of any of the competitors with 82 laps under his belt: "I am so happy tonight because this session has been much, much better for us. The long run was especially good but infact the whole evening has been an improvement. We've tried some different settings, which have helped, but mainly I have adapted and found a way to be comfortable, which means I can ride faster."
With grip rapidly decreasing at the Losail track as temperatures dropped, Rossi ran into a few troubles later on in the evening: "Tonight we suffered later on when it was colder, but we've spent a lot of time working on a solution and have gathered a lot of information which we will now study carefully. Overall we're satisfied with this test because we've found some good new things in the electronics to improve acceleration."
The final test before the start of the season will be taking place in Jerez, Spain on the 28-29 March.
