Pedrosa steals last gasp pole

Dani Pedrosa stormed to his second pole of the season in a last gasp flying lap at the Sepang circuit in Malaysia. He snatched the pole from Valentino Rossi after the chequered flag fell on the session.

Pedrosa cut his final lap close and was in a race against time to get out on track for a final attempt at pole. He did it though, with a stunning lap of 2m01.548s, 0.409s quicker than Rossi.

It was an exciting qualifying session with a number of drivers trading fastest laps in the final moments as the track was still damp from an earlier downpour.

Lorenzo joins Rossi and Pedrosa on the front row ahead of Hayden, Edwards and Dovizioso on row two. Casey Stoner ended up on row three.
