West sets early pace in wet

Anthony West was the surprise pace setter in the first free practice session of the maiden MotoGP session to be held at Indianapolis.

With very wet conditions, the circuit was incredibly slippery and West's best time was a 1m53.034s to finish 0.1s ahead of Alex de Angelis.

Casey Stoner's dominanace of free practice sessions ended, but he finished third, 0.156s off the pace, despite a light highside at the end of the session. Doviziosi ended up fourth ahead of Hopkins and Vermeulen.

Lorenzo finished the session seventh ahead of Hayden while Rossi ended up eleventh.
