
Casey Stoner stormed to pole position for tomorrow's race at Misano in a thrilling qualifying session that saw him exchanging provisional pole several times with Valentino Rossi and Jorge Lorenzo.
In the end, Stoner pulled out an absolutely stunning lap of 1m33.378s on his final flier to qualify half a second clear of Valentino Rossi. Jorge Lorenzo confirmed his return to form with third place, just 0.1s behind his Yamaha team mate.
Randy de Puniet ended up a strong fourth ahead of Elias and Dani Pedrosa who has been gradually finding his pace throughout each session.
Vermeulen, Nakano, Toseland and Edwards rounded off the top ten.
