Stoner storms to sixth straight pole

16 August 2008

Casey Stoner stormed to a sixth straight pole position in a wet qualifying session this afternoon at Brno in the Czech Republic. The reigning champion set his lap early in the session when the rain was only light to end up securing pole ahead of Valentino Rossi.

The best times were all set early as continued rain made conditions increasingly treacherous as the session progressed.

John Hopkins had a strong return to qualifying finishing third on his Kawasaki ahead of Chris Vermeulen in fourth.

Alex de Angelis followed through for Gresini's threatening pace to end up fifth on the grid ahead of Anthony West.

Randy de Puniet finished seventh, despite a crash to end up ahead of Shinya Nakano.
