Stoner fastest on Saturday morning

16 August 2008

Casey Stoner continued to build momentum for his challenge this weekend at the Czech Grand Prix by setting the pace in Saturday morning practice, in wet conditions.

Track conditions were treacherous but Stoner set a best time of 2m09.609s on his fourth lap of the day as he bids for his sixth straight pole in this afternoon's qualifying.

Vermeulen finished second in the wet conditions but was over half a second behind Stoner. Gresini's strong run this weekend continued as de Angelis finished third ahead of Nakano.

Championship leader Valentino Rossi ended up fifth ahead of Hopkins, Capirossi and Pedrosa.
