Stoner breaks lap record in second practice

11 July 2008

Casey Stoner continued to show dominant form at the Sachsenring, breaking the lap record in second practice on Friday.

Stoner went round in 1m21.582s to dominate the first day of practice in Germany, finishing 0.745s ahead of the next rider, Alex de Angelis. The day was not all good for Stoner, who suffered a brief run-off and lowside in the final ten minutes of the day.

Colin Edwards ended up third, the only other driver within a second of Stoner's pace, although the Tech 3 Yamaha rider suffered a crash half way through the session, but escaped uninjured.

Rossi ended up fourth, but 1.2s off Stoner's leading pace but still just ahead of Dani Pedrosa and Jorge Lorenzo climbing up to sixt in the final minute of the session.
