Pedrosa fastest on Friday morning at wet Assen

In the third and final free practice session Repsol Honda rider Dani Pedrosa completed the fastest lap. While the riders had to start the 60-minute session at a damp track it dried throughout the session. Sylvain Guintoli topped the time sheets for most of the session but dropped to eighth in the end.

At Assen the MotoGP riders continued the Dutch Grand Prix weekend without Loris Capirossi. The Italian crashed on Thursday afternoon and was unable to continue. The Rizla Suzuki team decided it won't use the services of Ben Spies this weekend and race with just Chris Vermeulen in Saturday's Dutch Grand Prix.

Conditions for qualifying are set to keep the riders and teams guessing, although they will be prepared for any eventuality having had a dry run in both of the opening two practice sessions.
