Busy day for Gresini riders

Alex De Angelis and Shinya Nakano were back on track at Le Mans today for a day of testing. The two Team San Carlo Honda Gresini riders were able to get through a mountain of work in close contact with the Bridgestone tyre technicians, with the clear objective of improving their race pace. 

Shinya completed 67 laps and was satisfied with a variety of tyres, especially after finding improved feeling with the rear end of the bike. Alex, who started the day with a crash on his first lap, recovered to rack up 85 laps and after a long day in the saddle the San Marino rider was able to make significant improvements, knocking six tenths of a second off his best lap time from yesterday's race. 

"I'm happy with how the test went today - we mainly worked alongside Bridgestone, testing the new tyres that they made available to us," said Nakano. "At the end of the day we were able to pinpoint a rear tyre that gave good results and allowed us to make another step forward with my race pace. We also focused on the general set-up of the bike with our minds on the Italian Grand Prix, which is an important event for the whole team."

Alex De Angelis commented, "Today we completed a lot of work alongside the guys from Bridgestone, concentrating on the new material they brought here to Le Mans. I'm satisfied with the test because I was quicker straight away on the new tyres and managed to knock some significant tenths off my best lap from yesterday. We didn't try qualifiers because for us the objective right now is to improve my race pace and we're not far off returning to the battle for top ten positions. I hope this tyre is also useable at Mugello, where the track conditions will be different but where we'll be looking for a much better race than we had here yesterday."
