Pedrosa fastest in opening practice in France

Championship leader Dani Pedrosa completed the fastest lap in Friday morning's first free practice session ahead of MotoGP's French Grand Prix. The Repsol Honda rider completed his fastest lap at the circuit of Le Mans in 1.34.646 and was one tenth of a second faster than Yamaha rider Jorge Lorenzo.

Round five in the 2008 MotoGP season brings the circus to the historic Le Mans circuit. In the first 60-minute free practice session Casey Stoner topped the time sheets for quiet a while but at the end of the session he fell back to fourth position. Last year's man on pole position, Colin Edwarwds, did well with his Tech 3 Yamaha team. Edwards finished fifth in Le Mans.

Best French rider at Le Mans was Randy de Puniet who ended 13th.
