Final practice: Rossi fastest, Lorenzo returns

Valentino Rossi completed the fastest lap in the third and final free practice session ahead of the Chinese Grand Prix. In perfect weather conditions the Italian completed his fastest lap in 1.59.690 and was just ahead of Dani Pedrosa. Jorge Lorenzo used the session to see if he is capable to continue his Chinese GP weekend after his heavy crash on Friday morning.

On Friday Yamaha rider Jorge Lorenzo suffered from a heavy crash. The Spaniard hurt his ankle and was brought to the hospital in Shanghai for scans. He was unable to take part in Friday's second free practice session and the rest of his race weekend was in doubt.

After a night of rest at the hotel Lorenzo used Saturday morning's free practice session to see how he feels on the bike. His fastest lap brought him in the time sheets to P14. It is still unclear if he will take part in today's qualifying session.

At Tech 3 Colin Edwards keeps surprising the field. The American completed this morning's fourth fastest lap. Shinya Nakono also seems confortable at the Shanghai circuit. Nakano completed the fifth fastest lap.
