Jorge Lorenzo claimed pole position for Sunday's Grand Prix at Jerez. In front of his home crowd the Spaniard dominated the qualifying session. The 20-year-old's fastest lap was over half a second faster than the rest of the field. Lorenzo will be joined by Pedrosa and Edwards on the front row.

Saturday's qualifying session was dominated by the Michelin riders at Jerez. Casey Stoner was frustrated with his performance so far this weekend. In the final minutes of the qualfying session Stoner was even blocked a bit by his former team mate Capirossi. Stoner, clearly frustrated, made a kicking move towards the Suzuki rider.

Stoner's team mate, Marco Melandri, had a terrible day. The Italian is having a tough weekend at Jerez and fell off his bike early in the session.

Riders that did enjoy themselves at Jerez were Colin Edwards and rookie rider Jorge Lorenzo. Both riding Yamaha bikes the duo qualified themselves in third and first respectively.
