Stoner leads first practice session in Qatar

Casey Stoner showed he is ready to defend his championship title in 2008. The Australian set the fastest time in Friday's first free practice session. In Qatar Stoner completed his fastest lap in 1.55.924. Jorge Lorenzo did very well in his first official MotoGP session with Yamaha. Lorenzo completed the second fastest lap, just ahead of Dovizioso.

At Yamaha Valentino Rossi also had a reasonable start. The Italian set the fourth fastest time, just over half a second behind on Stoner. Another championship candidate, Dani Pedrosa, was found on P5.
