Stoner fastest on final day in Australia

Ducati rider Casey Stoner was once again the fastest rider on track at Phillip Island. He completed his fastest lap in a qualifying simulation run in 1.28.777, almost a second faster than Nicky Hayden. Stoner's fastest time was even faster than the official lap record that was set by Nicky Hayden in 2006.

The rookie riders showed they can keep up with the experienced riders. James Toseland finished third, right behind former champion Nicky Hayden. Andrea Dovizioso finished fourth.

The MotoGP teams will travel to Malaysia next week for a three-day test session at the Sepang International Circuit.
