Stoner dominates first practice at Valencia

02 November 2007 / Results

Casey Stoner enjoyed a strong start at the final round of the 2007 MotoGP season. The Australian topped the timesheets for most of Friday morning's free practice session. Stoner was seven tenths of a second faster than Gresini rider Marco Melandri who will race his last weekend for Gresini.

The Grand Prix weekend in Valencia got underway on Friday morning in chilly conditions. Temperatures were as low as 15 degrees Celsius. Ducati rider Casey Stoner dominated the session. He was the fastest man on track for almost the entire 60-minute session.

Alex Barros, who will say goodbye to MotoGP after his race in Valencia, was third for most of the session but in the final seconds Repsol Honda rider Dani Pedrosa pushed him down to fourth.
