Nakano joins Honda Gresini in 2008

The Honda Gresini MotoGP team today announced that it came to an agreement with Shinya Nakano for the 2008 MotoGP season. The experienced 30-year-old Nakano will be riding alongside the also newly signed rookie Alex de Angelis.

Nakano will leave the Konica Minolta team and his replacement has yet to be announced. Shinya Nakano commented about his deal with Gresini: Ï am really pleased to work with the Honda Gresini Team. I know Fausto (Gresini), as he was a rider before becoming a Team Manager and he has worked very well with Honda HRC for many years. I will be pleased to learn something from the team and to work with my new team mate Alex de Angelis. I believe we can have a good season together. I also look forward to work with Bridgestone tyres as well, I have good memories with them."

Team boss Fausto Gresini commented on the new signing: "Shinya is a rider with a great potential. We strongly believe in him.We have signed a one-year contract with him with an option for another year.
