Stoner dominates Malaysian Grand Prix

21 October 2007 / Results

Casey Stoner has also won Sunday's Malaysian Grand Prix.It was Stoner's 10th victory of the season. The Australian was joined on the podium by Marco Melandri and pole man Dani Pedrosa. Randy de Puniet and Valentino Rossi finished in fourth and fifth respectively.

Starting from second position Casey Stoner managed to overtake Dani Pedrosa immediately after the start. Stoner would not give up his first position and cruised to his tenth victory of the season. Dani Pedrosa had to follow Stoner in the opening laps in second position but had Randy de Puniet close behind him.

The three riders managed to create a gap to a group of Melandri, West, Elias, Vermeulen and Rossi. West though received a drive-through penalty for a jump-start and had to come in to collect his penalty.

In the mid-field Nicky Hayden and Toni Elias were fighting for the sixth position behind Rossi. As Hayden tried overtaking Rossi he braked way too late and went straight into the gravel. He fell back to position ten.

In the final rounds of the Malaysian Grand Prix Stoner, Melandri, Pedrosa and De Puniet formed a group with Valentino Rossi in fifth watching the group closely. The Italian was unable to close the gap to the top four though and had to settle for fifth place at Sepang.
