Complicated day for Pramac d'Antin
21 October 2007The penultimate round of the MotoGP World Championship held at the Malaysian circuit of Sepang has seen yet another victory for Casey Stoner, proving the supremacy of the Ducati-Bridgestone combination. Nonetheless, for the Pramac-Dantin Team, the race was not satifactory due to technical problems. Alex Barros finished in twelfth position and Chaz Davies in seventeenth.
"I'm not happy with the race I just finished," said Barros. "At the beginning, the motor's performance wasn't as good as we expected and I couldn't get into a good rhythm. I'm not exactly sure what happened, but the engineers are analyzing the data. The Team has worked so hard, and I hope that things will go better in Valencia".
Chaz Davies commented, "This has been a difficult race for me. I got a good start, but in the second corner I was on the outside and three or four guys got past me. After that, I tried to stick with the group of Checa, Nakano, and Aoki, but I wasn't able to. The set-up of the bike was better today, but it still wasn't enough to fight for the points. I'm not happy with this race, but I hope to do better in Valencia because that is a track I like and it's where I've had my best finish before".
Engineer Fabiano Sterlacchini added, "We are checking all the data so that we can clearly understand what wasn't working well, and also why Barros was able to go a second faster per lap than at the beginning of the race. The tires also didn't work as well as they have, because the resurfacing of the asphalt has changed our set-up reference that we obtained in the preseason tests."
