Repsol Honda rider Dani Pedrosa has done it again. The Spaniard will start Sunday's Malaysian Grand Prix from pole position. He was slightly faster in qualifying than 2007 world champion Casey Stoner. Marco Melandri will join them on the front row.
On Saturday afternoon the track was fortuately dry. Kawasaki pilot Anthony West was the first one to set a serious timed lap. The Australian was clearly the fastest rider on track in the opening minutes. His team-mate, Randy de Puniet, had a less positive start. The Frenchman fell of his bike in the fifth minute in qualifying.
In the final minutes Dani Pedrosa completed his fastest lap of the day that was fast enough to take his third pole in a row. Casey Stoner and Marco Melandri qualified themselves in second and third. Valentino Rossi was surprisingly slow with his Michelin tyres and will have to start Sunday's race from ninth position.
