Puniet ahead of Stoner in second practice

Kawasaki rider Randy de Puniet set the fastest time in Friday's second free practice session at Sepang. The Frenchman completed his fastest lap in 2m02.917. Casey Stoner, who was fastest in Friday's first free practice session, finished in second with Melandri in third.

The differences between the various riders were large compared to the usual free practice sessions on Friday. Honda Gresini rider Toni Elias ended sixth but he was a second slower than De Puniet.

Wildcard rider Nobuatsu Aoki completed 16 laps in the afternoon and finished just ahead of Valentino Rossi in 15th. Valentino Rossi was 3.2 seconds behind on De Puniet and will have a lot to make up on Saturday.
