Stoner dominates home Grand Prix
14 October 2007 / Results / Photos2007 MotoGP champion Casey Stoner has won the Australian Grand Prix on Sunday. The Australian took the lead in the race at the first corner and never gave away his first position. Stoner took his ninth victory of the season and was followed by his team-mate Capirossi in second and Rossi in third.

Under the sunny Australian skies the race at Phillip Island got underway with Casey Stoner being the first rider to dive into the first corner. Dani Pedrosa, starting from pole, had to settle for second. Valentino Rossi, who began his race from the front row, had a bad start and had to do with fourth after lap one. Rossi had to give it his best to stay ahead of Capirossi, Barros and Melandri.
After eleven laps the Yamaha rider moved towards Nicky Hayden and managed to overtake him from the outside. Not much later Hayden had to give up his race when he pulled over with technical problems.
Casey Stoner was well ahead leading the Australian Grand Prix with Rossi in second, followed by Pedrosa and Capirossi. Ducati rider Capirossi had a clear advantage with his Bridgestone tyres. Capirossi managed to overtake both Pedrosa and Rossi to take second place in the same lap.
