Rossi wins at Estoril

Valentino Rossi made sure Casey Stoner has to wait for his first MotoGP championship title as the Italian won the Portuguese Grand Prix. It was an exciting fight for the top three finishers. Rossi managed to overtake Pedrosa in the final part of the race, while Stoner had to settle behind the duo in third. Nicky Hayden finished in a well deserved fourth place.

At the start of the race at Estoril it was Casey Stoner who took the lead. He Ducati rider went straight ahead of Nicky Hayden and Dani Pedrosa. Valentino Rossi had a terrible start as he fell back from second to fifth. It was the start of an exciting race for the Italian though. Without too many problems he overtook country fellow Marco Melandri. Not much later he was able to overtake Nicky Hayden and Casey Stoner.

Not much later Valentino Rossi closed in on Pedrosa and he tried outbraking him. Rossi went wide though and saw Pedrosa retake the lead With a few laps to go the Yamaha rider won the lead and kept it until the finish line.
