Hayden surprises with pole at Estoril!

Reigning world champion Nicky Hayden will start Sunday's Portugese Grand Prix from pole position. He surprised a few when he qualified himself ahead of championship leader Casey Stoner and Valentino Rossi. Tamada, Pedrosa and Edwards will start the race from second row.

At a sunny Estoril qualifying got underway with a number of drivers improving P1 various times. It wasn't until around 15 minutes before the end of the session when Casey Stoner was the first driver to set a time under 1m37. He was almost a second faster than Pedrosa who was in first position until Stoner came along. In the end though Hayden managed to go faster by 0,040seconds than Stoner. Rossi had to settle down in third.

Sunday's race will start at 15.00 local time.
