Stoner takes fourth straight pole

Stoner takes fourth straight pole

01 September 2007

Casey Stoner built on his lead in practice to take his fourth straight pole position in qualifying this afternoon at Misano, snatching it in the final moments from local hero Valentino Rossi.

Rossi took provisional pole late in the session and Stoner had very little time to respond, but he put in a fearsome lap of 1m33.918s, to edge Rossi out by less than 0.2s.

Nicky Hayden qualified third, half a second off Stoner's final pace while de Puniet, Hopkins and Pedrosa rounded off the top six.

Marco Melandri recovered from his crash in practice this morning to qualify twelfth behind Checa, Vermeulen, Edwards, West and Guintoli.
