Stoner fastest in marathon practice session
01 September 2007Casey Stoner finished fastest at the end of the marathon two-hour practice session this morning at Misano. The extended session took place after heavy rain washed out two of yesterday's planned practice sessions.
Stoner led with a lap of 1m34.714s as hefired in a series of consistently fast laps. There was drama fifteen minutes into the session when Marco Melandri did his physical reovery from a neck injury no good when he crashed. Melandri was taken to the medical centre but fortunately cleared to resume the practice session in the final ten minutes.
Rossi ended the session second fastest, half-a-second off Stoner's pace. West was a surprise third for Kawasaki ahead of Checa, Edwards and Vermeulen.
