Stoner takes dominant Czech pole

18 August 2007

Moto GP championship leader Casey Stoner took a dominant pole position in qualifying for the Czech Grand Prix at Brno this afternoon. The Ducati Rider finished ahead of the two Repsol Hondas of Nicky Hayden and Dani Pedrosa.

Stoner was out front from very early on and looked untouchable when he improved his pole lap later in the session.

There was action in qualifying when John Hopkins lost the front end of his bike and went off into the gravel. He had managed to secure fourth up to that point though.

Valentino Rossi had a tough session and only in the final seconds managed to haul his bike up to sixth on the grid ahead of Casey Stoner's team mate Loris Capirossi.
