Sylvain Guintoli beat Casey Stoner to top the second practice session for this weekend's Czech Grand Prix. The Frenchman put in a best lap of 1:58.362s to beat the Ducati rider by just over two tenths of a second. John Hopkins, who was second fastest in this morning's session, ended up third in today's second practice session at Brno.
Loris Capirossi was fourth fastest ahead of Randy de Puniet and Valentino Rossi. The two Repsol Hondas of Dani Pedrosa and Nicky Hayden were seventh and eighth with Makoto Tamada and Chris Vermeulen making up the top ten.
Guintoli's surprise fastest lap was set in the final moments and on qualifying tryes. The Dunlop-shod rider was normally around two seconds off the pace on race tyres but will still be encouraged by this afternoon's performance. Marco Melandri was in less buoyant mood however and had to sit out the session after complaining of neck problems.
