Stoner dominates Friday's sessions

Casey Stoner, MotoGP championship leader, dominated both free practice sessions at Laguna Seca on Friday. The Ducati rider was two tenths of a second faster than Marco Melandri in the second free practice session. Hopkins and Edwards did well once again as they ended third and fourth. Chaz Davies, replacing Hofmann, ended last.

The US Grand Prix weekend continued on Friday with another one-hour session at Laguna Seca. The session began without Alex Hofmann who was replaced by Chaz Davies. The German rider was unable to continue his weekend as he injured his hand in this morning's first free practice session.

Kurtis Roberts seems to have made some progress with the team's new chassis. Roberts who is normally found at the bottom of the time sheets ended 17th.
