Davies to replace Hofmann

Alex Hofmann will be replaced at Laguna Seca by 20-year old Chaz Davies at Pramac d'Antin. Hofmann was hit by Guintoli in first practice and was left with a fractured metacarpal in his left hand.

Hofmann, who had high hopes for this weekend after a promising performance at Laguna Seca last year, was already riding with a broken bone in his right hand after it was shut in a car boot two weeks ago.

Davies was already present at Laguna Seca for the AMA Supersport event and will now also ride Hofmann's Desmosedici GP7 for the remainder of the weekend.

Chaz, a good friend and former rival of current MotoGP World Championship leader Casey Stoner, switched to the AMA Supersport and Formula Xtreme championships with Celtic Racing this year, after five seasons on privateer machinery in 250GP.

The 20-year-old Briton, who has already taken a Supersport pole and Formula Xtreme podium so far this year, is currently eighth in the Supersport championship and seventh in Formula Xtreme.
