Stoner takes pole at Sachsenring
14 July 2007 / Results / PhotosCasey Stoner took pole for tomorrow's German Grand Prix as expected after dominating in every session at the Sachsenring track so far this weekend. It was however only by the slightest of margins over Repsol Honda's Dani Pedrosa, with the Spaniard just 0.004s off the Ducati rider's time of 1:22.384s.
Marco Melandri, who has been on the pace in every session, will complete the front row for Honda Gresini. It was extremely tight at the front with just 0.013s separating the top three ahead of Randy de Puniet, who topped the timesheets for most of the session until the last 14 minutes, ending up a strong fourth for the Kawasaki team.
John Hopkins and Valentino Rossi make up the top six. Loris Capirossi, Alex Barros, impressive French rookie Sylvain Guintoli, and Shinya Nakano, who rarely makes it into the top half, complete the top ten.
Colin Edwards, Nicky Hayden and Carlos Checa, who fell during the session will be disappointed to be down the order in 13th to 15th places respectively.
